I'm Mariam - an Armenian illustrator and visual artist currently based in Edinburgh. I love anything related to visual storytelling but recently I have been gravitating towards comics.  The infinite possibilities to tell one

story through the combination of pictures and

words excites me to explore the limitations of

both the medium and my practice.

The themes of my work try to answer the small or big
questions that arise during my experiences in the world. 

I find my stories to be a juxtaposition of big ideas and very ordinary young woman experiences resulting in satirical and sometimes poetic stories of imaginative characters trying to figure out the answers I seek. My constant inspirations are femininity, the corporeality of the human body and the rich culture and iconography of Armenia.
